Connecting Dell DLP Projector 1800MP with Sony DHC-AZ5D. SVideo Vs Component Vs VGA?

In conclusion, the Epson 8350 can be thought of as a tweaked “next year’s model” of the 8100. Since the 8100 got the core features right, not much improvement was needed. Epson apparently controlled the inventory of the 8100s pretty well. After the 8350 was released, I looked for blow-out deals on the 8100 and didn’t find any. You can pay just as much for the outgoing 8100 as the 8350. You might as well get the newer model.

The only downside is this thing is HUGE. The little projector table we are using (soon to be ceiling mounted, the MovieMate doesn’t have a ceiling mount option) is completely filled by the 8350, about 50% more footprint than the MovieMate, which is already large by projector standards because it contains a DVD player.
I had problems with the Epson 8350. The projector keep telling me there were problems with the iris when I would start it up. I would then have to restart the projector and hope that I did not get the same error message. I thought the picture was great when it worked though. I ended up returning this projector after getting the same error message with a replacement.

The mount leverages three of the five holes on the projector. I have to tell you this is a nice piece of hardware It’s really stiff which is great for vibration and in the event you bump it. Hands down an amazing mount.

I started using, EPSON 8350, a few days ago. My previous two Panasonic models, PT- AX100U’s iris malfunctioned twice in a year and PT-AE2000U lost blue color in two years of use. As described by many reviewers, this EPSON model makes good picture quality and I wish it will last longer than the Panasonic models.

I paired the projector with the following screen and mount:

This is my first video projector. I never considered buying one before because of concerns over the contrast, sharpness and overall quality of the picture.

I like this better than the movie theater. As the screen is smaller it is easier to get a high resolution picture. The surround sound speakers which are the Energy Take Classic 5.1 set with the Energy CF-30 floor standing speakers (I got a great deal for 150 each new) make for wonderful sound. There is plenty of great home theater equipment out there but this was the best for my budget at the time. I would highly recommend a good audio set up to go along with the amazing picture quality you will have with this projector.

This is the screen I used: FAVI 16:9/120-Inch Electric Projector Screen (HD-120)

I have had other projectors in the past. A infocus X1 and a sanyo Z3 The infocus worked great but I traded up for the sanyo a year later. Unfortunately the sanyo started to die about 1 year after I had bought it and I really could’t afford another projector until now. I don’t have a dedicated room or anything, I actually have a very small house and put my projector in the family room and shine it right on my bare off white wall. I got my new projector from another source since amazon was out of stock at the time but I figure this is the best place to write a mini review. I have to say I’m impressed overall. The projector has amazing colors, truly amazing colors. I’m using it off my Xbox 360 via HDMI and my direct tv box via Component. The color is great the picture is razor sharp but the blacks are not quite what I was expecting I thought they would be much deeper but I’m gonna go out and contribute that to my room not being setup for a projector. After all I have a white ceiling and walls and when the image gets bright the whole room lights up. But over all it’s a incredible deal for the money. I can play games lag free and hd movies streaming over the xbox are incredible as well as some of my older hd-dvd’s they look fantastic.

This is my first ever projector. After much deliberation and research I purchased EPSON 8350. I am more than satisfied with product. Works right out of box, easy to install an delivers the video with excellent quality. Would strongly recommend this product and will never go wrong with this.

Component and VGA are pretty much the same, but you do NOT want to go with the S video. That’s the worst of the 3.
